Build a Wood-Fired Train Kiln with Claude Aussage Join us for a rare opportunity to work alongside internationally respected kiln builder, wood firer and ceramic artist Claude Aussage as we build a brand new wood-fired train kiln at Oxford Kilns. This is not a demonstration. It is a live kiln build, and you will be part of the team constructing a working kiln from the ground up. Over two weeks, you'll take part in every stage of the build, including foundations, the Bourry box firebox, chamber, arch and chimney. Alongside the practical work, there will be plenty of opportunity to discuss kiln design, combustion, draught, firing dynamics and the thinking that underpins successful wood-firing. Oxford Kilns is home to three very different wood-fired kilns, making this a unique chance to compare firing philosophies and construction methods in one place while contributing to the next stage of the project's development. Whether you're planning to build your own kiln one day or simply want a deeper understanding of wood firing, this course offers an immersive learning experience that is difficult to find elsewhere.
